An effective ministry organization makes a strong commitment to the development of their leaders – volunteers, interns, entry-level staff, those who will emerge as the next generation of top leaders, and seasoned veterans. All are important in carrying out God’s work.

Not only must individuals take responsibility for their own growth as leaders, organizations need to see leadership development as their responsibility. Executives and boards must understand that significant dollars must be invested in carefully crafted strategies that reflect the very best of what Christian leadership is all about.

While it is necessary to prepare these leaders for specific work within one’s own organization, a larger view from the vantage point of God’s Kingdom work is even more important. Yes, we are preparing people to work within our own ministries for the years ahead, but we are also investing in their role in the larger scope of what God will be up to in their calling over their lifetime.

Leadership development is not something we simply do as a function of running an organization. It is very much a part of the larger call to discipleship, an essential ingredient in what it means to be good stewards of our own lives and all those who have and will be entrusted to our leadership.

On these pages we will:

  • Offer a snapshot of the Essentials of a Leadership Development Program.
  • Present a list of Valuable Periodicals and Books that inform the work of leadership development.
  • Provide informative Articles that are believed to be of value to you.
